HOW DO I ORDER?To make an order please first visit the various tabs on our website to ensure you know what you would like and so you can provide us with as much information as possible for us to quote! Please fill out the contact form or email us with important details such as event date, servings required, design ideas, colours etc. From here we will get back to you as soon as we can to notify you if we can complete your order and we will begin discussing in further detail. Once you have agreed to go ahead we will email an invoice where a 25% deposit must be paid in order to secure the date and order. Without this, your spot is not confirmed and may be filled by another customer. The remainder is due approx. 1 week prior to cake collection.
-
HOW MUCH NOTICE DO YOU NEED FOR AN ORDER?The more notice the better! Certain times of the year are more popular and generally most weekends will book out 1-2 weeks in advance. The quicker you confirm your order the better to avoid disappointment. ***Please also be aware that we require a 25% deposit on all orders - your order is NOT confirmed until this is paid. Simply discussing an order with us for a date without payment means that we may have booked out in the meantime.
-
I NEED TO CANCEL MY EVENT, CAN I GET A REFUND?In order to secure your order, there is a 25% non refundable deposit. The remainder is then due 1 week prior to your order pick up. Unfortunately if you cancel after the deposit OR final payment has been made, there is no refund as your order is most likely in production to some extent (ingredients ordered, or cake started). Should you need to change your order date and provide us with adequate notice, we will be more than happy to accomodate this.
-
HOW/WHEN DO I COLLECT MY ORDER?If ordering a product for a weekend, pick up will always be Saturday morning between 9 and 10 am. We are closed on Sunday. Your items will be fine either at room temp. or in the fridge overnight for your event the following day. (We will advise of this) Always aim to pick up your order as close to your event as possible. Eg. collect your order on Saturday for a Sunday event, not Friday. We offer weekday pick ups also and a pick up time will be discussed at the time of booking. In some cases, we can do a later collection on a Saturday, should you be unable to collect between the designated time slot.
-
HOW DO I TRANSPORT MY ORDER HOME?All cake orders come with a care card/sticker. This explains that the very best spot for the most safe travel is on the floor of the passenger side. If this is not possible, please try the boot or the floor of the backseats. The main thing is keeping your cake flat (not on a lean - like a carseat) and cool (pop the air con on in hot weather!). ***Don't forget, this is certainly not the time to drive like a race car driver! Take those corners sloooowwww.
-
DO YOU OFFER DELIVERY?We do offer local delivery for an additional cost. Usually distance is only travelled for wedding cakes, large orders or tiered cakes. We absolutely recommend delivery in these instances to ensure the cake arrives safely. Please make sure you notify us if delivery is required when ordering. Delivery times will need to be discussed and organised carefully as we also have lots of pick ups to coordinate.

I CAN'T SEE THE DESIGN I'M AFTER ON YOUR WEBSITE, CAN YOU DO IT?What you see across our website and social media is a very small percentage of the amount of bakes that leave the kitchen per week! We have most likely made something similar to your idea and if not, we're always happy to do something a little different! In saying this, we will always recommend someone or be honest with you, should we not feel we can do your cake/cookie idea justice! Some things are just not our style and that's ok!

DO YOU MAKE WEDDING CAKES?Yes, absolutely! We love being a part of your special day. Lots of time and communication goes into creating your wedding cake and for this reason we only take on a small amount per year and maximum 2 weddings per week to ensure they are executed to perfection! Feel free to reach out with any questions you may have regarding your upcoming wedding cake and be sure to get in as early as you can. We offer tasting boxes on select weekends throughout the year ( we will keep you updated on these) for you to order and select your flavours!

WHERE DO I BEGIN WITH MY CAKE DESIGN?The first place to start is with my instagram and website galleries. Have a look at my work and see if it aligns with your style and event. From here, have a further look around at places like Pinterest whilst keeping your event 'theme' in mind. Remember your theme doesn't have to be as specific as 'Barbie' or 'Teddy bear theme'. Your 'theme' can be inspiration taken from invitations, outfits, backdrops, flowers etc. Try not to get overwhelmed by the process, collect a bit of inspiration and we can discuss these to come up with something you LOVE. I have lots of experience working to a brief as well as designing from scratch. ** Please note - we do not offer cake sketches for event cakes. Please trust that we will do our best to bring your visions to life. Communication is key and a little creative freedom always allows for the best designs!
-
CAN YOU REPLICATE ANOTHER CAKE?Cakes are like art and therefore The Final Course will never copy another baker's cake. We understand cake photos are helpful in explaining your design ideas and we encourage you to gather these for the ordering process but these will be used as inspiration only. Please think about what elements and aspects of these cakes you particularly like so we can take these and create something custom to you/your event. We are happy to create similar designs to our previous cakes but we can't guarantee an exact match.
-
DO YOU CATER FOR DIETARY REQUIREMENTS?All our cake flavours can be altered to be Gluten free as well as Lactose free. Please be aware that the kitchen environment is not strictly GF or LF. As much as we do our best to ensure no cross contamination, your baked goods will be in the same fridge/space as our other products. We unfortunately do not offer vegan or dairy free at this time.
-
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE IS MY ORDER MADE?There is no freezing at The Final Course and all our products are made-to-order and created as close to your pick up time slot as possible. Some elements will be started earlier in the week such as fondant decorations, prep work, purchase of ingredients etc. hence our cancellation policy.
-
I WANT A PARTICULAR SHAPE OF COOKIE, HOW DO I KNOW IF YOU HAVE IT?Take a look on my social media pages to get an idea of what we do have but please don't hesitate to ask! We may have the cutters already, but if not, we will most often be happy to add to our collection in order to make your cookies possible!
-
WHAT ICING DO YOU USE?All our cakes are made with Swiss Meringue Buttercream. This icing has a very smooth texture and the perfect amount of sweetness to be paired with our cake layers. This icing cake be delicate, so it should never be left in heat or direct sunlight. **Please note, fondant icing is used on our sugar cookies and will only be used on our cakes for smaller details. We do not offer fondant covered cakes.
-
I'M NOT HAPPY WITH MY CAKE DESIGN, CAN I GET A REFUND?It is vital that when ordering a custom cake you explain all your ideas and wants for your cake. We will always do our best to produce something you are happy with and please be assured we want your cake to look amazing, just as much as you - if not more! Communication is key in the design process and we unfortunately can't read minds! A refund will not be issued regarding cake design, unless the wrong cake was handed over! If there is something you are unhappy with upon pick up/delivery, please let us know and we will do our best to accomodate. ***A refund based on cake taste/flavour will only be issued if the cake is returned for us to make a decision based on quality/circumstance.

I NEED A CAKE ON A BUDGETDon't worry! Cakes don't have to be super expensive and we can always alter things to make them more cost effective. We offer shorter cakes, smaller cakes and cookie cakes which are all at a slightly lower price point and we are more than happy to discuss options with you. Please be aware that all pricing is devised with the best interests of both the customer and the business in mind. Lots of effort and time goes into every single cake and cookie produced to make them perfect for each client.

HOW DO I STORE MY ORDER?We always recommend buttercream cakes to be stored in the fridge. They can then be brought to room temperature prior to cutting. Please keep in mind that buttercream melts. Do not leave your cake in direct sunlight or heat. Cookies are to be stored at room temperature in their box or cellophane packaging. Cupcakes are also best stored at room temperature. Feel free to refrigerate should you feel your house is becoming too warm. Your cake will be at it's freshest when you collect, it will then be fresh in the fridge for 3 days and should be wrapped in cling wrap once cut. Leftover cakes and cupcakes can be frozen.
